Real Friends (“RFO,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is operated by Lumaneta Inc. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and related services (the “Service”).

We built RFO with privacy at its core. Your data exists to power the Service—nothing else.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Phone number — Used for account registration and verification.
  • Profile information — Your display name, username, and optional profile photo.
  • Posts and content — Text posts, photos, and photo albums you share with your friends.
  • Friend connections — The people you add and accept as friends on RFO.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — Basic information about how you interact with the app, such as feature usage and session information.
  • Device information — Device type, operating system version, and app version for compatibility and debugging.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Display your posts to your accepted friends and show you their posts.
  • Enable friend discovery through username, name, or phone number.
  • Send you important service-related notifications.
  • Protect the security and integrity of the Service.

That's it. We use your data to run the Service—nothing more.

3. What We Don't Do

This is just as important as what we do:

  • We don't sell your data. Not to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else. Ever.
  • We don't use your data for ad targeting. RFO does not serve behaviorally targeted advertising.
  • We don't share your data with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.
  • We don't use your content to train AI models or for any purpose beyond providing the Service.
  • We don't use algorithms to manipulate your feed. Your feed is chronological, always.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using Firebase and Google Cloud infrastructure, located in the United States. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Server-side validation of all requests.
  • Short-lived signed URLs for media access (photos are never publicly accessible).
  • No direct database access from the client app—all data flows through our secure server infrastructure.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account:

  • Your profile information is permanently deleted.
  • Your posts and photos are permanently deleted.
  • Your friend connections are removed.

You can request account deletion at any time by contacting us at support@realfriends.io. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

6. Your Choices and Rights

  • Access and update your profile information at any time within the app.
  • Delete your content (posts and photos) at any time.
  • Block users to completely remove them from your experience.
  • Delete your account and all associated data.

7. Children's Privacy

RFO is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@realfriends.io.

8. SMS/Text Messaging

By providing your mobile phone number and opting in to receive text messages from Real Friends, you consent to receive recurring automated text messages from us related to the Service, including invite notifications, friend activity alerts, and promotional messages about Real Friends.

  • Message frequency varies. You may receive up to 5 messages per month depending on your account activity and preferences.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details about your messaging plan.
  • We will never sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number with third parties for their marketing purposes. Your phone number is used solely to provide the Service and communicate with you as described in this policy.
  • Opt out at any time by replying STOP to any text message you receive from us. After opting out, you will receive a one-time confirmation message. You can opt back in by texting START or by re-submitting your phone number on our website.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes through the app or by other means. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
